Impact Report

July 2023 - September 2023

KNKX was excited to unveil our new Seattle home. The studios, situated between Pike Place Market and the Seattle waterfront, have already been a vibrant community hub. Jazz and blues artists have come into Studio X to perform, and we welcomed hundreds of people into the space for our open house in August.

Local artists, Craig Cundiff and Moses Sun, created two stunning murals for KNKX, uniting the beauty of visual expression and the arts of jazz, blues, and storytelling.

On August 26, KNKX hosted an open house and welcomed hundreds of our listeners in to our studio. Among the those who joined us to help celebrate include NPR’s Michel Martin (above) and Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell (below).

In Tacoma, the trial of three officers involved in the death of Manny Ellis got underway. KNKX reporters Mayowa Aina and Jared Brown led our coverage of the weeks-long trial. From jury selection to opening arguments, Aina and Brown were in the courtroom, keeping you updated in this landmark case.

The Walk Home podcast about the case was also a finalist for a prestigious Scripps-Howard award.
