Impact Report

January 2023 - March 2023

It has already been quite a year at KNKX, and we're just getting started! Learn more about how your support has helped us impact the community, tell the stories of our region and feature the very best that jazz and blues has to offer.

The Walk Home team has been working with libraries, high schools, and universities to engage with students and community members.

One high school student was even inspired by Monet’s quest for justice when writing a scholarship application about a civic leader who has inspired her.

And notably, Hector Castro with the new Washington State Office of Independent Investigations said ‘The Walk Home’ was “practically required listening” for staff.

Celebrating

Black History Month

In February, Black History Month, KNKX honored the contributions of Black jazz and blues artists, presenting a collection of special one-hour programs.

Our news team also reported on several stories about the Black community, such as this feature on State Senator Rosa Franklin by Bellamy Pailthorp.

Our Reporting

KNKX’s beat reporters, the talented folks who cover Arts & Culture, Social Justice, the Environment, South Sound, and Special Projects reporting have been as busy as ever covering our region’s most poignant and timely stories.

You are the best. I have been listening since I was a child. You give me all the inspiration and warm fuzziness while keeping me informed and expanding my understanding of those with different experiences in this life. Thank you.
