April 2024 - June 2024
KNKX brings news, music, and storytelling to thousands of listeners in Western Washington and beyond, on the air and online. From the Coast to the Cascades and around the world, the voices of KNKX are a reflection of your "true Northwest," reflecting the people, places and vibrant culture of our region.
Here are some of our major initiatives in the spring of 2024.
In recognition of Jazz Appreciation Month this April, KNKX celebrated the living legends of jazz. Through rich storytelling, our music team highlighted the jazz innovators like Billy Hart (pictured), Joni Mitchell, Kenny Burell, Herb Alpert, Mavis Staples, and many more who continue to inspire.
Celebrating one year in Studio X!
It’s been an eventful first year at Seattle's Studio X. We’ve hosted an amazing 50 studio sessions since opening. And because we more than doubled our previous square footage, KNKX has been able to invite over 220 members of the public in for these intimate performances.
Recent sessions include Jazz Overhaul, Nancy Erickson Lamont, Nicole Henry, Takuya Kuroda, and many more.
Highlights from the news team
The KNKX news team was honored to win three Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards this year, including one for Overall Excellence!

In May, KNKX connected listeners to Bremerton, with stories about the culture, politics, history, and transportation for Bremerton. After KNKX host Emil Moffat hosted All Things Considered at the historic Admiral Theatre, Eugenie Jones and Mark Lewis treated the audience to an evening of great music.
